Destinations

Six cities, one country.

Each city has its own temperament. Here is how to combine them into a journey that suits you.

Marrakech
01
The imperial south

Marrakech

Marrakech is the natural starting point for a first journey. UNESCO-listed medina, riad patios, copper souks, the Majorelle and Secret gardens. Evenings stretch across rooftop terraces, mint tea circulates, and the air fills with orange blossom.

Best for
Hospitality, crafts, gastronomy
Recommended stay
3 to 5 days
Ideal season
October to April
Fez
02
Morocco’s memory

Fez

Fez is the city of memory. Its medina — the largest still inhabited in the world — is walked on foot, lane by lane. The Chouara tanneries, the Al Quaraouiyine university, the coppersmiths, the zellige-lined madrasas: the art of making is everywhere.

Best for
Culture, architecture, savoir-faire
Recommended stay
2 to 3 days
Ideal season
March to May, September to November
Chefchaouen
03
The Rif

Chefchaouen

Chefchaouen is suspended time. The blue city clings to the Rif mountains; its winding stairs lead to flower-filled squares. Worth doing: the walk to the Spanish mosque at sunset.

Best for
Gentleness, photography, Rif nature
Recommended stay
1 to 2 days
Ideal season
Spring and autumn
Essaouira
04
The Atlantic

Essaouira

Essaouira is the Atlantic parenthesis. Its Portuguese ramparts, its blue fishing boats, its thuya marquetry workshops — and above all the trade wind that gives the city its particular tempo.

Best for
Ocean, wood craft, breathing
Recommended stay
2 to 3 days
Ideal season
April to October
Sahara
05
Merzouga · Zagora

Sahara

The desert is not a destination but an encounter. Camp at Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga, sunrise on the dune, evening around a fire. The road there is part of the journey: Dades valley, gorges, palm groves.

Best for
Landscapes, silence, nomadic encounter
Recommended stay
2 to 3 days including the drive
Ideal season
October to April
Atlas
06
Toubkal · Ourika

Atlas

The Atlas lives at its own pace. Ourika valley, Imlil at the foot of Toubkal, the Aït Bouguemez valley. Pisé houses, almond trees in blossom, tea shared in a Berber family — another reading of the country.

Best for
Hiking, Berber villages, altitude
Recommended stay
1 to 3 days
Ideal season
April to June, September to October
Casablanca
07
The economic capital

Casablanca

Casablanca is not Morocco’s postcard — it is its economic pulse and contemporary breath. The Hassan II Mosque, one of the world’s largest, stands facing the Atlantic. Art deco boulevards, the Habous quarter, seafront cafés — another reading of the country, resolutely urban.

Best for
Architecture, Atlantic, urban life
Recommended stay
1 to 2 days
Ideal season
Year-round
Tangier
08
The strait

Tangier

Tangier looks toward Europe from its cape. The city of writers (Bowles, Genet, Burroughs), diplomats and expatriates, it retains its cosmopolitan aura. The kasbah perched above the port, the white lanes descending to the beach, Café Hafa opening onto the strait — Tangier is lived like a novel.

Best for
Literature, sea, cosmopolitanism
Recommended stay
2 to 3 days
Ideal season
April to October
